Regarding my visiting /surprising a friend .. they live in Queenstown Tasmania?

Previous question had wrong place ... Would appreciate any information about getting from Hobart to Queenstown.

You can drive from Hobart to Queenstown on the Lyell Highway. It is about a 300km trip but takes 4-5hrs as the road is very winding and quite treacherous in places. If you don't want to drive there is probably a bus that will take you there.
