Hey there!

I live in Melbourne (Victoria) and go to Tasmania at least once a year!

Tasmania is in my opinion the most beautiful part of Australia. It has lush forests and beautiful beaches, and the scenery is amazing! It is also one of the oldest settled parts of Australia, so there are lots of beautiful old stone buildings around the state. Hobart, the state capital, is beautiful and feels more like a northern European city than Australian. The people are really friendly as well.

I would definitely say go to Port Arthur. It is a former prison colony by the sea and the scenery around is amazing. I would also go to Bruny Island, a beautiful little place south of Hobart. Not to be missed IMO is Wineglass Bay on the west coast. It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen! Then in Hobart you can browse the Salamanca Market on Saturday morning, or have a drink on the harbourside.

Tasmania is amazing - I really hope you enjoy your trip!

twice I have holidayed in Tasmania each time for 8 days. First we looked at the East coast. We flew into Hobart and out of launceston each time. The 2nd holiday we did the West Coast. that was a completely different experience. I hope to have another holiday there and do the Centre and the top. I loved Hobart. It's certainly worth the drive up mount Wellington. but you need to drive up when it's not to cloudy. We stayed at the casino in Hobart That was very nice. People recommend port arthur. I have been and didn't like it at all. It holds to many sad memories of prisoners and a terrible murder scene there , so that wasn't a place I like to go. If you like walking adventures Freycinet national park is good on the East Coast but on the West Coast i found the drive to Cradle Mountain was really wonderful. It can get very cold there. It actually snowed in October when we where there and I saw my first ever wombat in the wild. I'm so pleased to have toured The West Coast. It is hilly and many winding roads many water falls wilderness areas and very interesting.

I went there last year an I loved it. I can't understand why some Australians in the other states run it down. It is almost as beautiful as New Zealand, and has some lovely historical architecture in the towns and cities. And the people seemed very down to earth and decent (although a bit stand-offish).

I might give more details later but I've got to do something else for the next few hours.

that's totally rather useful to hire a automobile whilst in Tasmania as public transport outdoors of the extra beneficial Hobart area is fairly peculiar and severe priced. in case you like a coastline you're able to bypass to Seven Mile coastline (on the brink of the Hobart airport), Clifton coastline, Bellerive (not as sturdy because of the fact the different seashores), Dodges Ferry coastline (approximately 40 or so km out of Hobart in the direction of the east coast) or you're able to bypass to someplace like Bruny Island which has journey Bay that's fairly effective yet that's slightly out of ways and you will in basic terms rather bypass there in case you had a minimum of a week for Hobart because of the fact you're able to need a minimum of two days there. additionally going there calls so which you will get the automobile ferry from Kettering and it is likewise on an unsealed highway which you will could be very careful of because of the fact might ruin the regulations of the automobile hire settlement. effective components to bypass are around the Huon area the place you're able to see the Tahune Airwalk. you're able to bypass right down to Hastings Caves yet that's a reasonably good distance south from Hobart. Russell Falls is yet another effective area which has a effective water fall. in case you go with for to discover slightly extra beneficial afield you're able to bypass to Port Arthur (international general history web page) and Eagle Hawk Neck that's fairly effective and scenic. in case you have a week in Tasmania it may be very rather useful to bypass up the east coast to places like Swansea, St Helens, Coles Bay (all are very desirable places exceedingly Coles Bay/Freycinet nationwide Park). Realistically you have 3-4 days in basic terms for exploring the extra beneficial Hobart area and yet another 4 for the East Coast and an afternoon for Port Arthur.
